Photography opportunities abound in Costa Rica. The Central American country of Costa Rica has become one of the most popular birding destinations in the Americas thanks to the abundance of birds and other wildlife. So of course, photography of the birds and wildlife must also be great!

Thanks to Costa Rica’s incredible habitat diversity, and its location as part of the land-bridge between North and South America, it is home to over 800 species of birds that have been recorded within Costa Rica’s borders.

We will visit two diverse habitats. In the mountains between 7000-10000 feet we hope to find Bay-headed Tanager, Rufous Motmot, Snowcap, Black-crested Coquet, Fiery-throated Hummingbird and, of course, the revered Resplendent Quetzal. In the lower elevations we find a plethora of toucans, aracaris, parrots, tanagers and yes, more hummingbirds!

Cost Includes:
All lodging, meals, instructions, guide fees, ground transportation, and airport transfers.

International airfare, passport fees, visa fees, airport taxes, laundry, phone calls or anything of a personal nature or not specifically mentioned as included in the itinerary.

Kevin Loughlin was raised to appreciate nature while exploring the woodlands of Pennsylvania as a child. At age six, during a family trip through the American West, Kevin became fascinated with photography as well seeing the new and different birds throughout North America. Instilled with a love for travel and seeking new, exciting destinations he felt a desire to share his experiences with others and in 1993 he created Wildside.

Kevin’s photographs and articles have appeared in publications such as Nature Photographer, WildBird, Audubon and Philadelphia Magazines, as well as the many natural history books.

Kevin teaches beginning birding classes and nature photography classes through several adult education venues as well as through seminars and workshops for groups, organizations and schools.
