Get your kicks on Route 66. From Victorville, CA to Gallup NM

Get ready for the iconic road trip on the Mother Road. Route 66! See it while you can! This will be my 7th Route 66 workshop. We won’t be touring from Chicago to LA but we will be touring from Victorville CA. to Gallup NM… more than 450 miles!

Last years trip was a total success and I have thoroughly scouted and photographed our route. We will make many iconic photographs of structures that are classic and quaint and others represent desolation and memory.

We will shoot photos from sunrise to sunset and also do some night photography of the road and signage. The route includes driving on the interstate where the old route ceases to exist. This is truly the ultimate road trip. We will drive to at least 30 different locations. There will also be a few Route 66 museums and classic cafes we will stop at.

Our schedule will be casual and fluid depending on weather, how fast we move as a group and what we find. Many of the structures along the highway are in flux and deteriorating.

So its best to see Route 66 now!

Day 1, We will meet the first afternoon, March 25, in Victorville CA. After a meet and greet we will head out for our first night of shooting. Plan for a early wake up call the next morning as we begin our journey down 66!

Day 2 will be spent photographing many of the sites along the old California 66, National Trails Highway. That night we will end up in Needles CA or Kingman AZ depending on our road progress.

Day 3 will be spent photographing many of the sites along the old Arizona 66. Arizona has a few detours due to past changes in the old highway. We will end up in Holbrook AZ. that night.

Day 4 will include photographing Meteor Crater and Holbrook AZ and traveling to Gallup NM.

Day 5 will be spent overnight in Gallup NM before making the return trip home.
