Revitalize your vision while exploring relationship to subject, camera and self. Learn to deepen visual awareness while clarifying our approach, making images that are more personal and meaningful. Our photography becomes more powerful by cultivating simplicity and developing the power of intuition. We learn to become visually stronger by becoming more in touch with our inner selves, then use that awareness to deepen the connection with our chosen subject. We also consider lighting, composition and exposure issues. Much practical advice will be given but more importantly you will practice using this information to make more personally meaningful images.

Inspiration will be sparked by a balance of conversation, meditation, sharing photos, reviews of past work, critiques, writing exercises, readings, poetry, photo exercises and assignments or whatever means necessary.

Numerous photographic exercises and assignments will be site specific and are concerned with both internal and external experience and growth. Mornings will be spent in class and on photographic exercises and afternoons on field trips with Doug doing assignments, or in critiques of assignments or work in progress.

Anderson Ranch Arts Center, is located in beautiful Aspen, Colorado, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Mornings are spent in class and outside on photographic exercises or in critiques of work in progress and afternoons spent out on field trips with Doug, working on photo assignments. Come prepared to grow past previously believed boundaries.
