Costa Rica Bird Photography Tour – March 11-20, 2027

Join Jeff and Angie for a workshop on bird photography in Costa Rica. You will experience the extraordinary wildlife of Costa Rica during an immersive bird and wildlife photography tour created for photographers.

From hummingbirds frozen in flight and colorful tropical birds to scarlet macaws, sloths, frogs, reptiles, monkeys, caimans, and raptors soaring above the mangroves, every day offers something new to photograph.

We will travel through several of Costa Rica’s most productive wildlife regions, including Tárcoles, the Arenal Volcano area, Caño Negro, and Sarapiquí. Along the way, you will photograph wildlife from boats, blinds, decks, natural perches, and carefully arranged photography setups.

Jeff and Angie Birmingham will provide hands-on photography instruction throughout the tour. A knowledgeable local guide will help locate wildlife, prepare photography areas, and share insight into Costa Rica’s remarkable ecosystems.

This small-group Costa Rica bird photography workshop limits participation to 10 people, giving everyone room to photograph and receive personalized instruction.

We require a full payment of $5750 to reserve your spot since tour time is just around the corner; the deadline to sign up is February 4th, 2027. Tour and workshop fees are nonrefundable.
If the photo workshop is full and someone from the waiting list can take your spot, your tuition is fully refundable minus a 15% cancellation fee.
We are not responsible for cancellations due to medical or other reasons.
Should cancellation be required due to severe weather, an alternate date will be scheduled at no additional charge.
No fees will be refunded if you withdraw after the photo workshop begins.

Who are our workshops for?
This trip is for photographers of all levels, from those who have never used a camera to those who have been taking pictures for years. We’ll meet you where you are and answer your questions and share our techniques in the real world. We’ll spend time at the hotel going over post-processing tips and editing workflows when we’re not out capturing the moment. This will help you improve your photos no matter how much experience you have.

We offer pre-workshop classes.
All of the participants will be able to take classes before the workshop to help them feel confident and ready for our big adventure. Before we leave, we’ll set up a Zoom meeting to discuss the setup and give you some photography tips. This tour is a great fit for both new and experienced photographers, and birdwatchers are welcome too. There is no need to have any experience.
