Established in 1910, Glacier National Park has long been revered for its pristine forests, alpine meadows, rugged mountains, and spectacular lakes. The park encompasses nearly one million acres of wilderness area; its glacier-carved peaks and valleys run to the Canadian border. The park is dominated by mountainous terrain, and currently contains 25 “active” glaciers, some of the last in the lower 48 states. Glacier’s landscape today is a reminder of the much larger glaciers that shaped it 10,000 years ago, leaving behind deep glacial lakes, sheer-walled valleys and enormous rocky deposits known as moraines. It is a haven for wildlife, and mountain goats, marmots, and black and brown bears are all regularly spotted.

We’ve timed our Glacier National Park workshop for autumn, when landscape colors should be at their best, and the majority of summer tourists have gone home. While many of the park’s lodges have closed by this time of year, we have secured special openings for our group. We’ll also be bringing our own chef with us, so we can eat great food on our own schedule. Chef Ben has been with us on numerous workshops as the Muench Chef, and he consistently gets rave reviews! We’ll visit a wide variety of locations, on both sides of the mountains: St. Mary Lake, Two Medicine, Many Glacier, Logan Pass, and more!

Your guides for this workshop will be Muench Workshops pro Juan Pons and assistant Mike Ince. Both have intimate knowledge of this region, and will put you in the best places at the best times for spectacular shots. Expect to receive intensive photographic instruction in the field—we’ll cover use of ND filters, exposure bracketing for HDR, panoramas, deliberate motion blurs, and more. We’ll also be sure to make time for our signature image reviews and post-processing instruction.
