The Badlands of Utah are host to some of the most raw, rugged and unique landscapes in this country! Nestled in a canyon far from most traveled areas, this area of Utah has beautiful mesas, rock formations and slot canyons. This provides us an opportunity for dramatic sunrises and sunsets, as well as abstract photography, and a chance to explore what will someday become a booming area.

LOCATION
We stay in the small town of Hanksville, Utah, which is home to 3 hotels, a couple of restaurants, a market, gas station, and is very close to Capitol Reef National Park which we will also spend time photographing. We have arranged for lodging at the Muddy Creek Mining Company, and will be staying in brand new cabins with full kitchens. Each cabin is $985 (includes tax) for the 5-night stay.

AIRPORT
While we are not close to any major airport, this area can be accessed easily through these hubs:
SLC Salt Lake City is a 4 hour drive
GJT Grand Junction, Colorado is a 2.5 hour drive
Moab, Utah has a small regional airport that is a 90-minute drive

TRANSPORTATION
A high-clearance vehicle is required to navigate certain areas we plan to photograph. Cathedral Valley in Capitol Reef is a remote, rugged region which will require high clearance such as large SUV, or 4×4 vehicle if you have one. JKPW will help to pair participants with transportation if you request.
